BIO
Multi-hyphenate Creative
Bri McKay is mostly known as an alternative pop recording artist, and actress, but has added credits as dancer and choreographer, co-writer, film producer, and director. She's also an non-fiction author, mental health advocate, and creator of the brand Mentality Bootcamp.
Starting her professional training as a child, Bri has a versatile instrument being trained in many styles. She went on to study and graduate from KD Conservatory with an AAA in Musical Theatre. For acting and modeling, Bri is represented by The Boysen Agency.
In 2018 she met her to-be band mate and writing partner. As "Current Waves," they released the EP Letters To You. It was the only music released before McKay decided to focus on a solo career. The Letters To You EP (demo) is only available here on the website.
Bri has released a string of singles since 2020. In 2022 her electro pop EP Obstacles was released with fan favorite "Cut The Lights" which has been coined "a lively pop tune driven by a dynamic vocal performance and catchy hook...both tenets of a quintessential pop hit" by Streamline Music Blog. Following the success of Obstacles came a few more singles with her song "Feel Anything" featured in the short film "Hey, Girly" which she starred in and produced.
Bri has been said to "captivate[s] a room when she performs, truly telling a story." Recording Artist Guild says, "She writes with a freedom that just feels good."
McKay has gone on to receive recognition, placing Silver for Best Performance Based Music Video for Unapologetically and placed Bronze for Best Pop Song for No Words at One Earth Awards 2021.
The singles "Empty Bottle (feat Joney)" and "Bad News" - the singles off her newly released LP Truth Is... - have been well received, leading to the anticipation of the newly released album and the accompanying music video to "Empty Bottle." Truth Is... is an honest album showcasing McKay's typical fierce, unapologetic lyrics, with glimpses of the softer and more sensual sides of her nature.
In film, Bri's most notable roles are as Anna Maria in "Hey, Girly," Penelope in "Revenge Blvd" Monique in the feature film "Top 5 Weekend," and Vespar Ibbott in "The Ecumenical Woman. She also made a cameo in the cult horror film "Retro Freaks II."
In theatre, McKay has been seen on stage in The Addams Family Musical (Alice Beineke), RENT (JoAnne), The Gospel Soul of Elvis (Mary Holladay), and Inferno: Fire at the Cocoanut Grove 1942 (Goody Goodelle), among other performances. McKay also has several crew credits as sound designer, stage manager and lights/sound operator.
